USPS® Rate Increase May Not Be That Large!

There is a great article in Post and Parcel that talks about how the USPS rate increase expected for January may follow the Consumer Price Index instead of a much larger hike to help cover loses. The article is titled “Donahoe: US mailing industry “too fragile” for major rate increase.” I feel it is interesting that they are running out of options.  If they raise prices by too much, people will stop mailing at a faster rate and their volumes will suffer. They are looking at everything under the sun to reduce costs but it is all going to lead to reduced service levels. As our expectations on mail change so will our desire to look for other alternatives, many of which will be a faster migration to digital replacement of mail.
